The primary purpose of these web sites is to offer information about our school - its classes, teachers, students, and organizations. It may be used to provide a format for students and teachers to publish their work and communicate their ideas. It may also be used for teachers to provide guidelines and information for our parents and community.
The following are guidelines for publication on this site:
All content must relate to Ballard County Schools mission and not conflict with any district rules, policies, or regulations.
All sites must be hosted through Ballard's Technology Department.
No site shall contain any
image of a child with first and last names listed; please use first name and
last initial only for photos or student work. First and last names may be
used only in written/typed lists of students who have received awards or
other honors.
No image of a child, nor
the child’s name, nor any work by a child on the district’s “no-print” list
may be used on any site. The parents of these children signed the Parental
Information and Consent form in the Code of Behavioral Expectations,
declining/refusing release of their child’s information.
No student demographic information will be listed on a web site including email address, personal student web sites or similar information.
Teachers and other adults working with students will review all work before it is published to insure it contains no prohibited information.
All Ballard County sites must follow copyright laws, plagiarism laws, and fair use guidelines.
There shall be no links posted to student, teacher, or volunteer personal web pages.
There shall be no links posted to "non-official" Ballard County sites that are not hosted by Ballard County's Technology Department. However "booster" organizations may have their sites hosted here as long as they follow these guidelines.
There shall be no commercial advertisements.
All publications to a site must be submitted to the site administrator for review and ONLY the site administrator is allowed to post to the site.
No material on any Ballard County web site may be copied without express written permission.
Posting on main pages should be brief: use links to sub-pages if content is lengthy.
Be aware of the size of files you are posting. Multi-media files (and scanned image files) can be large and consume too much disk space. All servers have limited space. Video and audio files are best posted to other third party websites like www.teachertube.com. (sites like Yahoo videos and YouTube are not recommended as they may contain inappropriate material)They can then be "embedded within our webpage. This will minimize disk space and off-load the burden of video streaming a file.
It is often better to post PDF files rather than word documents as they are not as easy to modify.
Updating of material on a web site should be done in a timely manner.
